Lord Shiva is the primary deity in Hinduism for many devotees and one of the Trimurti along with Brahma and Vishnu. Most devotees are familiar with the different legends associated with Lord Shiva, which uphold his status as an invincible Divine power.
Om Namah Shivaya is one of the most significant mantras in Hinduism, devoted to Lord Shiva. The chanting of this special mantra has several amazing benefits for a devotee’s life. Let’s have a look at its importance.

Benefits Of Chanting Om Namah Shivaya –

1. Om Namah Shivaya is a salutation to Lord Shiva which consists of the five syllables or Akshars, namely ‘Na’, ‘Ma’, ‘Si’, ‘Va’, ‘Ya’.
2. It is a part of a Hindu prayer, the Shri Rudram Chamakam, that is found in the ancient holy scripture Yajurveda.
3. This mantra has to power to purify one’s soul and guide them towards a virtuous and divine life. The positive vibrations of ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ lifts one’s spirits into previously unexplored planes of existence.
4. Self-realization about the greatness of God and the surrender of one’s ego is another important positive effect of chanting this famous mantra.
5. Om is the primordial sound of creation and the sound produced from the damru or drum of Lord Shiva, during the process of creation. It is a vibration that awakens our subconscious mind and ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ even has healing powers on a person’s body. Continual chanting of this mantra can cure depression, insomnia and mental illness.
6. The five Akshars of this special mantra are symbolic of the five elements of nature – earth, water, fire, air and space. Shiva is omnipresent and universal in nature; and this mantra acknowledges that.

 Fate Line in palm

We often blame our fate saying that ‘it was not meant for me’ when we lose an opportunity. What if we could find out what our fate holds? The fate line can reveal what will be the important trends in our life.
Palmistry says that there are seven varieties of fate lines which have separate influences on an individual.
1. Deep fate line
Deep fate line in a native’s palms indicate that he or she may achieve paternal wealth and other profits from various means. Elderly persons will help enhance the success of the individual.
2. Light fate line
A native with a light fate line in his hands means that he or she may have to undergo failures and difficulties in life. Due to unsuccessful attempts in his life he may often feel hopelessness. But a strong Sun line in the native’s hand will provide him success. In this way presence of other lines and mounts may also alter the results.
3. Divided fate line
According to palmistry if the fate line splits into two parts and create a ‘y’ shaped structure in a native’s palm then it indicates that the person may suffer from confusion and contradiction. He may be indecisive as his fate lines may not let him make a strong decision and stand by it. In short it can be said that he may be riding on two boats at a time.
4. Zig Zag fate line
Zig zag fate line in a hand suggest that a native may experience many ups and downs in his or her life. She can attain success only after defeating the problems and conflicts in her life. The native may not get the fruits of her efforts easily. This type of fate line also says that at crucial times of decision making the native’s thoughts may become vacillating.
5. Broken fate line
Broken fate line in a native’s hand indicates a danger. A breakage in a fate line means the native may face an accident at a certain point of time. The accident may cause physical damage or may even put the native’s life in danger. Natives who have a broken fate line should be very careful.
6. Chained fate line
A native may face many ups and downs in his life if the fate line is chained in his palm. He might swing between failure and success. He may successfully carry out a task and may sometimes face immense problems doing a simple task!
7. Invisible fate line
Palmistry says that every people has a fate whether the fate line is visible or not. The natives who do not have visible fate line can get information about their future by considering other lines of the palm. So, there is no need to worry for those who don’t have visible fate line.
A deep and strongly-etched Fate line represents a person who settles down into a disciplined pattern of life quite early. On the other hand, a weak or faint fate line suggests a person who is restless and tends to change jobs quite often.
A Fate line that begins at the very base of the palm depicts a person who has planned out his future at a very young age. If the Fate line abruptly ends at the head line, it denotes a person who somehow traveled away from his ambitions between the ages of 30 to 40 years.
In most people, you will find the Fate line trailing off at the heart line. Very rarely, you come across people with a Fate line that extends all the way to the middle finger. Such people may be seen to remain active even in their old age.
Sometimes, you may see two Fate lines on a palm. This is mainly found in the case of people who pursue multiple careers simultaneously. Such a double Fate line is considered to be a lucky sign since it promises a distinguished career.
Finally, if the Fate line is absent; it denotes the unstable nature of the person. No wonder, Fate lines are absent in the palms of most alcoholics and drug addicts.
Markings and Symbols in a Palm are Positive or Negative interruptions and blockages in the normal flow of the palm lines, mounts and fingers.
Few symbols or markings like Triangles indicate positive energy or results and symbols like crosses indicate negative results based on the line they are positioned and yield those results based on where exactly they are placed.
Example : A triangle formed on Apollo (Sun) line at middle (line starts from edge of palm, below mercury mount) indicates fame in middle age.
The exact age can be derived by dividing the apollo line in ratio of person’s lifetime and triangle’s placement/interception indicates age at which fame is achieved.
Negative markings or symbols indicate difficulties, separations, traumatic events or even health problems.
Few symbols indicate a period of recovery, problem resolution, or an emotional healing period for that person.

Meanings of Markings and Symbols in Palmistry

Breaks : Breaks in the major or minor lines of a Palm can represent both positives and negatives, depending on which way they lie from the various lines.
Breaks going toward the thumb indicate a new direction in a career.
Breaks in the upward direction toward the edges of the hand suggest an unexpected or unplanned journey. If they are pointing to the base of the palm this can mean an unexpected turn in your daily routine.
These breaks can indicate that there is an interruption in your normal flow of energy or signify a redirection in your life path.
Breaks are usually diversions or distractions and depends on how and where they are formed.
Chains : Chains denote the different obstacles you may face in your life. They signify a difficult or not so privileged upbringing during childhood.
Also, chains in lines of palm relate to experiences in your love life.
Chains also indicate times of indecisiveness, health problems.
Length of the chain correlates to the duration of time that all of these issues can last.
Crosses : Crosses are an indication of long-lasting problems and issues. They also represent major changes in your life.
Depending on where their placement on your palm, they can be indicating positive or negative changes.
They even are a sign that few adversaries want to cause harm to the you.
They also represent outside influences that are causing stress on you.
Crosses are also indicators of your state of mind and how you are going to handle your spiritual life.
Grilles : Grilles appear most often on the mounts of a palm. They signify negative indications and represent problems and adjustments.
A grille on any part of the palm disperses energy and it represents bewilderment, insecurity at times in your life.
Grilles signify interruptions in a person’s advancement. They can also signify beginnings or hindrances, with respect to life’s ventures.
You will also be continually exhausted by various anxieties and annoyances.
Dots : Dots are not always well seen on the palm and they can be very tiny.
Dots represent concerns about ill health, relationships or another type of destructive experience. They can also represent significant and monumental events that have created crisis in your life. They are also warning signs of danger in your life path.
In experience, Dots have disappeared when unfortunate circumstances and issues are solved, so their appearance is not permanent.
Islands : Islands indicate unfavorable interruptions in life.
They indicate stressful periods, either in career or by some person causing mental stress due to bad relation.
They also indicate fearfulness and weakness in health, in particular, inherited heart disease or a disturbance/breakage of your energy.
It is important to look closely at the island to be sure that it does end and the lines continue.
Island on Life Line which ends the line itself is dangerous and can lead to situations like suicide.
Stars : Stars on the palm indicate success and good fortune in the area/mount/line they appear.
But, a star appearing on the life line can represent a huge turmoil.
If a star is found at the end of a line, it can indicate fame and great accomplishments. It also indicates success in relationships.
If found in line or mount of saturn, these stars can signify misfortune, emotional problems and lack of confidence in career.
Squares : Squares are a positive sign on the palm and indicate protection, especially when they appear around line breaks.
They symbolize good luck from outside forces, for example, one’s guardian angel, guru or spiritual guide.
But, a square can represent a time period of being boxed in or imprisonment if it is on a line that has no break in its path.
Tassles : Tassels, also known as frayed lines, indicate confusion or chaos about a particular situation or problem. They can also indicate a physical, emotional or spiritual decline. It is often found at the end of the life line as an individual ages.
Transverse Markings : These are negative symbols and they take away the strength and deplete positive energy of the line or mount they are found on.
They create obstacles wherever they appear. It also indicates that you may be using you skills for bad purposes.
Traingles : Triangles are very lucky markings and indicate huge success.
They signify that the individual has an ability to analyze situations effectively and has the brainpower to accomplish multiple things.
When they appear on specific lines, they strengthen the qualities of that line. They can also be symbolic of someone who is spiritual or psychic.
For example, a triangle on sun line indicates huge fame at national or international level.
Tridents : A trident on the palm is also a very lucky marking. It always increases the qualities of the lines or mounts it appears on.
It even has positive effect on the neighboring mounts. It brings good fortune and you will be happy, healthy and wealthy in life.
Branched Lines : Upward branched lines can indicate that you have overcome some of life’s roadblocks with your own determination.
They indicate someone who will be successful and achieve their goals over a period. They also indicate hopefulness and a good outlook on life. There is an idealistic and positive attitude associated with these lines.
Downward branched lines represent times in which a situation has gotten out of your control.
They indicate pessimism, unhappiness, negative energy and losses. Their appearance on palm also signify of someone who does not think in a positive way.
Depending from which line the downward lines appear it lessens the strength of that line and drains its energy.
Vertical Lines : Vertical lines are usually good markings, representing positive energy.
Do not confuse these lines with sister lines. Some people may have several vertical lines in different sections of the palm. They are an indicator of a person who could be in the health care or medical profession. If they are found on the mounts or other lines, they lessen or neutralize any negative qualities that might be lingering. If they cut through a horizontal line, it is an indication that you have conquered trials and tribulations.

First things first. Pick a hand—but not just any hand. For insight into your work life and how you present yourself to the world, focus on your dominant hand. To examine personal relationships, dreams, and emotional struggles, look at the other hand. Having trouble making out the lines? Cup your hand slightly under a bright lamp. Keep in mind: According to hand analysts, a less prominent line reflects an area of life that may need work, while a deeper one signals that the characteristic related to that line is strong and fully developed. Baidyanath – Jai Durga Shakti Peeth Foundation Story

Goddess Sati was married to lord Shiva. She was the daughter of king Daksha. And, king Dasha did not like lord Shiva. Daksha was proud about his position and rank. Once he organised a Yagya. all God and Goddesses were invited in this Hawan, apart form Goddess Sati and her husband lord Shiva.
Devi Sati could not bear this disrespect of her husband. So, she jumped in the Hawan Kund (fire furrow) and died. hearing about this incident, lord Shiva became very angry. Shiva started roaming in the whole universe with the dead body of his wife. On the request of other deities, lord Vishnu had made 51 parts of Sati’s dead body. The places of Asia where these body parts fell were given the name as Shakti Peeth. After wandering in the whole universe, lord Shiva took the Samadhi at mount Kailash.
Out of the famous 51 Shakti Peeth, Baisyanath – Jai Durga Shakti Peeth is one of them. This is located at Devghar, Jharkhand.

Maa Tripurmalini Devi Dham is one of the famous Shakti Peethas of North India. The temple is related to Maa Sati Devi's(Lord Shiva's wife) story. According to the same, once long time ago when the mankind started getting civilized, Lord Brahma's son who was called King Daksha was given the responsibility of the organizing and running of this civilization. Out of his various daughters, the youngest was Devi Sati, who fell in love with Lord Shiva. King Daksha was a rival of Lord Shiva and even after getting his daughter married to Him, he found reasons to disrespect Him. Once Daksha organized a big yajya at his place and invited everyone apart from his daughter and son in law (Devi Sati and Lord Shiva). To which Devi Sati got very angry and went to the yajna place and set herself on fire jumping into the jayga agni. There after Lord Shiva sent Shri Veer Bhadra to kill King Daksha and then came himeself to the yagya place and lifted the burnt corpse/ body of Devi Sati over his shoulder and being in great dismay started doing Tandava (dance of devestation) roaming in the mountains of Himalayas. Lord Vishnu, in order to relieve Lord Shiva from this immense pain and to save the world, cut the adbode of Devi Sati with his Sudarshan Chakra into various parts and all the places where the parts of Devi Sati fell on earth became the Shaktipeethas. At this place, Maa Sati's Baam Stan (Left Breast) had fallen. The place is called Maa Tripurmalini Devi Shaktipeeth since then.
Read more information about all the Shakti Peethas.
Lord Shiva went to all the Shaktipeeths and did the sthapana (establishment) of the Shaktipeeth himself and also deputed one Bhairav roop for the protection of each Shaktipeeth. At this place also Shri Omkareshway Lord Shiva came and rubbed his Jatas with the beautiful soil which was like sandalwood. He did the sthapna of the Shakti Peeth in the form of a Pindi. After that HE then deputed Bheeshan Bhairav (Bhishan Bhairav) at this place for its protection. It is said, after the establishment, he took 3 parikrama of the sacred lake and all places where he stopped were developed by the devotees by establishing his Shiv Linga and was worshipped by various sages in the coming days like Swami Hemgiri ji.
Later on Aadiguru Shankaracharya Ji came to this place and since the Pindi which was revealed in the Dwapar Yug was the breast part of Devi Sati hence it should have always kept covered. Hence he covered the same and on top of it, established a beautiful Mata murti(idol) on top of it, which was discovered in the sacred pond/lake.
It is believed that for those who worship Maa here with honest heart, she listens to the wishes very quickly (Turant), hence She was also named as Maa Turatpurni
Jai Maa Tripurmalini .

Quite often we all have pondered about the quintessential question, ‘Why are we born?’ or ‘What is meant by afterlife?’ or ‘What is the purpose of life?’ We may have our own standpoint about this, but it may not necessarily be from a spiritual perspective. The two generic reasons why we are born is to complete our give and take account with different people and to make spiritual progress to gain God-realisation. When we merge with God, we are liberated from the cycle of birth and death. But what happens after death if we remain in this cycle? Is there an afterlife? When we look at numerous cases of reincarnations, there was a variable time lag between the death of an individual and his next reincarnation on Earth. The innumerable researched cases of past life experiences clearly indicate to afterlife. So, where do we go in the afterlife till our next reincarnation? Is there a single plane of existence or there are different planes of existence which maybe positive or negative in nature? What are the contributing factors that decide where we go after death? Does the plane we go to in the afterlife depend on our spiritual level; merits and demerits ? In the following articles we will present answers to all these questions and more.

Introduction to life before birth

Is this life all I have? Where do we come from before we are born? Where do I go after I die?
These questions will undoubtedly be familiar to almost all of us. Some time ago, we published an article on ‘What happens after death’. Through spiritual research we will cover our life before we are born in this 2 part series of articles. The two parts are:
  • Part 1: The time before we are conceived
  • Part 2: The time we are in the womb
The reason we have published both life before birth and life after death is because it brings to focus that we live our lives with consequences. The Law of Karma pervades our entire life. The life that we lead in our current birth decides the quality of our afterlife and subsequent births. Paradoxically while most people are interested in the spiritual life before birth and life after death, only a handful are interested in actually doing something about their spiritual life on Earth. This is so as to have a better afterlife and subsequent births and to ultimately get out of the cycle of birth and death.

2. What is life like before birth?

After we die on Earth, we (i.e. our respective subtle bodies) go to one of the various subtle regions of the Universe depending on our spiritual level and merits and demerits. Here we stay for varied periods of time before we get a chance to be born back on Earth. (Refer to point 2.4 for which subtle region we are most likely to go to.)

2.1 Life before birth: Regions of Heaven and above

In the current times, only 2 out of every 100 of us will make it to the higher positive regions of the Universe such as Heaven (Swarga), Maharlok etc. In the higher regions of the Universe, the predominant experience is happiness and Bliss.
The rest of us go to either the Nether region (Bhuvarlok) or one of the regions of Hell (Pātāl). Here the predominant experience is unhappiness to extreme suffering.
Life before birth from the seven positive and seven negative regions of the universe

2.2 Life before birth in the Nether world

The suffering experienced in the Nether region is generally far more than that in the Earth region (Bhūlok) as there is not much freewill. In the Nether region, 10% of the subtle bodies are guided by subtle bodies from higher regions such as Heaven and Maharlok. These subtle bodies are those of seekers with yearning for spiritual growth. Approximately 2% are controlled completely by destiny. Approximately 88% of subtle bodies are attacked by ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies, etc.) and controlled by them. These subtle bodies are fully conscious that they are controlled by ghosts but can do little to fend them off as they do not have any spiritual strength of their own.

2.3 Life before birth in the regions of Hell

With regards to the Hell region, even the worst part of one’s life on Earth is better than what is experienced in the regions of Hell. In Hell subtle bodies are controlled 100% by higher level negative energies. As we go to the lower rungs of Hell, the suffering and pain is only amplified. We stay in the Nether region for approximately 50-400 years before we are eligible for rebirth on Earth. In the case of the Hell region, we can languish for thousands of years before we get an opportunity to be reborn.

2.4 Spiritual practice in the subtle regions

The following chart shows the likelihood of which subtle region that people’s subtle-bodies will go to after they die in the current times. We have provide two scenarios:
  • The first scenario shows where most people go after death during peace time.
  • The second scenario shows where people go after they die when the world is going through a major upheaval like major localised conflicts, World War 1 and 2 or the imminent World War 3. Due to the greater sin incurred during times of conflict, as people’s behaviour and actions become much worse, a greater proportion of people go to the lower regions of the Universe namely Hell. On the other hand seekers who strive to practice Spirituality even in difficult times are likely to progress at a faster rate compared to same amount of spiritual practice undertaken during peace time. As a result there is a higher proportion of subtle bodies of people who die in Scenario 2 that go to the higher positive regions of the universe, which is Maharlok and beyond.
Subtle regions of the universe Scenario 1 – Peace time Scenario 2 – Time of conflict
Higher positive regions of the Universe (i.e. Maharlok and beyond) Less than 0.1% 0.40%
Heaven (Swarga) Less than 1% 1.60%
The Nether region (Bhuvarlok) 85% 30%
1st region of Hell 10% 30%
2nd region of Hell 30%
3rd region of Hell 4% 3%
4th region of Hell 2%
5th region of Hell 2%
6th region of Hell 1%
7th region of Hell 0%

100% 100%
The only thing that can alleviate the suffering in the lower subtle regions of the Universe is spiritual practice. However the likelihood of doing spiritual practice in the lower subtle regions of the Universe (i.e. the Nether and Hell regions) is next to nil. Intense suffering compounded by attacks from higher level ghosts make the environment impossible for spiritual practice as subtle bodies switch into survival mode to combat the harshness of the environment.
In the subtle region of Heaven, the happiness experienced is such that subtle bodies get caught up in its experience and hardly do any spiritual practice. So while subtle bodies can theoretically do spiritual practice in Heaven, the likelihood of actually doing it is minimal due to distractions of various pleasurable experiences.
Spiritual practice can be done and actually does happen only in the higher subtle regions of Maharlok to Satyalok. Subtle bodies in these regions do not have to be reborn on the Earth plane to settle their give-and-take accounts or to do spiritual practice.
Life on the Earth region is of great importance as it is the only plane where people from the lower regions can be born to do spiritual practice, complete their give-and-take and get outside the cycle of birth and death.

2.5 Do we know about our lives before our current birth?

The average subtle-body generally remembers events only from its last birth on Earth. It does not remember births before that unless they are very notable. This is up to the time the subtle body is reborn on Earth again. Wanting to know about previous lives is not the highest item on our agenda in the Nether region or Hell. Avoiding unhappiness, fending off ghosts and the agony of being away from people that they are attached to are generally what occupy most subtle bodies in the Nether region.

2.5.1 Why do we not remember our lives from before this lifetime?

As we get involved with the world, we forget our previous life in the subtle regions and on Earth. Our physical senses strongly overshadow our sixth sense and we lose our ability to perceive our previous births. It is also God’s compassion for us that He has so arranged that we forget the previous lifetimes. Just imagine how difficult it would be to go about the day to day affairs of this life remembering past life events like the past birth relationships we had with the people in our life in this birth. For example, a father and son in this life could well have been husband and wife in an earlier life. Or a present life mother could have been responsible for the death of her present life daughter in a previous lifetime.

3. What is the purpose of a birth on Earth?

We are born on Earth to settle our give-and-take account or Karma and to do spiritual practice. In the Nether region and Hell it is almost impossible to do spiritual practice so as to burn our give-and-take account.
Refer to the article on the purpose of life.
After the death of a person, being born on Earth again is not in the hands of the person (or rather his subtle body). Birth on the Earth plane is rare. For every entry of a subtle body into an embryo, millions of other subtle bodies compete to gain entry on Earth to experience worldly life. But it is only that subtle body that is destined to enter an embryo that will get birth on Earth.

4. What are the factors that decide what sort of life we are born into on Earth?

The two main factors that decide our birth on Earth are:
  1. Are the conditions on Earth conducive for settling our give-and-take account?
  2. Which region are we in prior to our birth on Earth?

4.1 The give-and-take account and the nature of the life we are born into

Our give-and-take account is the single most important factor that decides
  • the time period when we are born on Earth and
  • into which family etc.
Our give-and-take account decides the time of our conception right up to the year, month, hour, minute and second. This means that we take birth on Earth during that period when it is most conducive for us to complete a maximum amount of our accumulated give-and-take account. Hence we take birth at the same time when those people with whom we have major give-and-take accounts are around and also that external circumstances on Earth are conducive too
